Resumo
Introdução: A variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (VFC) é um indicador de homeostase biopsicofisiológico e tem sido amplamente utilizado como método de aplicação de intensidade no treinamento físico. Trata-se de uma ferramenta para estimar limiar ventilatório e aptidão cardiorrespiratória e o nível de recuperação do atleta. Entender sua aplicação no planejamento do treinamento é tema de grande relevância para cientistas, treinadores e atletas.
Objetivo: Apresentar a importância da aplicação da VFC no planejamento do treinamento aeróbico de atletas, tanto amadores quanto profissionais.
Conclusão: Os principais pontos encontrados no estudo são a promissora aplicabilidade da VFC como monitoramento e guia de prescrição de treino para atletas de resistência.
