Abstract
Introduction: As part of the 2023 Special Issue, the Revista de Educação Física/Journal of Physical Education (REF/JPE) is bringing scientific aspects related to health in high-performance sport.
Objective: The objective of the present study was to present and recommend the reading of the study by Abreu et al. on the use of supplements to improve performance in elite soccer players to the readers of the Journal of Physical Education (REF/JPE).
Development: The systematic review included 18 articles with the aim of gathering scientific knowledge regarding the prescription of dietary supplements to improve the performance of elite soccer players.
Conclusion: Soccer players can improve performance on the field by using nutritional supplementation indicated in the article while there are supplements that do not provide additional benefits.
